At AJC Comms we work with Openreach’s Tier 1 suppliers to build and maintain the fibre network across the UK. Our operating model allows us to be scalable and flexible, with the ability to adapt quickly to the requirements of our customers.

AJC Comms Ltd was founded in 2019 by Alex James Charnock, after successfully working within Telecoms for 8 years. Now 4 years on and AJC Comms is taking on work from multiple customers across the UK.

We pride ourselves on investing time into developing our teams to ensure they are confident and capable in all aspects of the job. We have a progression plan for splicers to learn all elements of cabling and vice versa. This means we can operate efficiently, giving our teams ownership of the entire job, including testing.

Not only is ensuring our teams are upskilled and highly proficient at the job important to us, but so is ensuring our teams are polite, professional and confident when dealing with the public. A professional and polite manner with the public is important for both the reputation of AJC Comms and our customers.

Quality of work is a core value of AJC Comms, not only because fixing faults costs us time and money, but we believe in spending the time to get the job completed at the highest level, whilst working to targets to achieve both employee and customer satisfaction.

Dave Dillinger: Field Build Manager

Alex has 12 years experience within telecoms, both working within engineering teams and managing regional teams across the UK. After 8 years of working within other telecoms organisations, Alex made the decision to start his own company.

Dave has 25 years experience within telecoms and is experienced in both the fibre build and civils. Dave has brought a breath of knowledge to AJC and works out in the field sharing his expertise with our engineers.

“Prior to working with AJC Comms, we ran our own building company and were looking for a new challenge. We joined AJC Comms in October 2022 and although we had many skills including building, electrics, plumbing and project management, we were required to learn new skills including splicing, cabling and testing. AJC Comms put us through the necessary courses to become qualified and also provided on-site training for the first few months whilst we got up to speed.

It's not an easy job by any means and learning the industry acronyms is a challenge in itself, but working with AJC on the fibre build has been exactly the challenge we were looking for. We are supported daily and are always encouraged to develop our skills.”
